Design Process

The Culture & Living Magazine exhibits a consistent and refined design system for the interior of a digital magazine with articles adapted from T Magazine. The magazine design includes two articles and table of contents.
01. Draft One Magazine Design
I chose to design for a culture and living magazine as these are the topics for the T Magazine articles: Can Cultural Identity be Defined by Food? and Inside the Surreal Home of a Celebrated Milan Design Family. Since my approach for the magazine style was to have a refined look, I utilized serif text and balanced large images with the body copy to create consistency throughout the spreads. I applied the design system to one of the articles.
02. Draft Two Magazine Design
For the first article I added two more spreads to make the pages less text heavy. I extended the design system used in the first article for the second article by utilizing the same typeface, image placement, similar grid structure, and use of white space. The second article has a different layout for the title and header than the first article to show a distinction between the two articles.
03. Draft Three Magazine Design
I created a third spread for the second article to add more whitespace. I designed the table of contents using the names of additional T Magazine articles that align with the focus of the magazine. The table of contents follows the design system used for the articles by utilizing the Times typeface, clear grid system, and white space.
04. Final Magazine Design
The final refine and engaging The Culture & Living Magazine design provides people with an enjoyable reading experience. The grid system, white space, and serif typeface create a highly readable magazine. The table of contents and footer on each page allow for someone to easily navigate the magazine.
